Living or serving at the Hub is a lifestyle of devotion and servanthood to Jesus, His Kingdom, and His people. Residents and Crew Members are invited to enjoy all of the benefits of what is offered at the Hub and are also expected to serve, participate, and contribute. Each Resident and Crew Member is hand-picked by God to serve at our Hub. We each have a passion to walk with Jesus and follow Him wherever He leads us.
Our unifying desire is to pursue Jesus and to see the Church become the Bride that He deserves. Each one of us is called and gifted by God to participate in equipping the Body of Christ for spiritual maturity. We are individually unique and bring our own special story, experience, gifts, insights, and abilities to our service here. We grow by actively living for God in all we do and by serving one another with our gifts. Blended together with one another, God’s grace is multiplied and He does wonderful things among us.
We want more of God and are willing to pay the price He calls us to. We are willing to do things unconventionally in order to follow the pattern God lays out before us. We are willing to suffer for following Jesus and give Him the glory when His wisdom leads us in triumph. Sometimes, this makes our life challenging but we rejoice all the more to share our journeys with one another. We face our battles together.
In 1 Corinthians 4:1, the word used for “ministers” of the Lord literally means “under-rower.” An under-rower refers to servants who sat below the decks of ships to pull the oars and row in time with one another at their captain’s commands. Moreover, in Ephesians 4:13, the word used for the Body attaining the “fullness” of Christ is defined as “full, filled, or complete, like a ship fully manned with sailors.”
Together, we are one Crew. We each serve on various sub-Crews to help keep the Hub running smoothly and in step with our Captain, Jesus.
Serving on Crews
Jesus took on the form of a servant. As He conforms us to His likeness, He expects us to serve with a willing heart and a joyful attitude. Crew Members may serve on one or several Crews. Each Crew is responsible for contributing to the Hub in specific and significant ways. Crew job descriptions are available from Crew Leaders. Here is a listing of some of our Crews:
Prayer & Intercession
Evangelism & Outreach
Shepherding & Pastoral Care
Bible Study & Teaching
Music & Praise & Worship
Kitchen & Food Preparation
Business & Office & Tech
All Residents are required to participate in at least one Spiritual Crew and at least one Service Crew. Both elements of service to others are critical to your spiritual and character development for the fulfillment of God’s Kingdom purpose for your life.
What We Expect of Residents & Crew Members
Genuine and earnest pursuit of Jesus Christ and His Kingdom. This is a holy place for those who are serious about their devotion and service to God and His Kingdom. Willing and joyful service: Everyone is here of our own free will to offer ourselves in service to God. Let’s do it joyfully together. Exemplary adherence to all Hub Policies and Cultural Guidelines. (Available upon request.) Regular attendanceand participation in Hub activities, events, and at Crew and Resident meetings. You are here for a reason. Holy and honorable living as leaders in the Body of Christ. (See Suitable for Service Evaluation, available upon request.) Modest dress that is age and gender appropriate, not overly revealing or provocative, with consideration for our multi-cultural environment. Decent and appropriatelanguage that is full of grace rather than crude joking or sarcasm. No gossip or cutting down of others. Deferenceand service to Guests, Crew Members, Residents, and Leadership in preference of self. No soliciting. Trust God to supply your needs by asking Him to provide for you – not by asking other people. You may receive gifts from Crew or Guests but you may not solicit. Financial Offerings as God guides you. No mandatory contributions are required but we ask that you remain in a posture of generosity and sharing as you obey God with your giving. (Consider Acts 4:32-35.) God loves a cheerful giver.
Additional Expectations for Residents: Cleanliness in your personal hygiene, in your Room. We reserve the right to inspect/search Suites and Rooms at random for any reason. Financial contributions to the Hub as God leads you. We believe it is important for Residents to contribute to the place where you are living, eating, and being spiritually developed. We require all Residents to set up an auto-deducted monthly contribution of any reasonable amount as God leads. This is not your tithe or an offering; this is your contribution to your place of residence. If you want to live by faith, this is a great way to start. If you believe it is God’s will for you to be here then, He will provide for you.
Please Note: Residents are required to attend Resident Meetings in addition to the spiritual and service Crew meetings. We recommend Residents designate one day each week for a Sabbath from your duties. We recommend and offer one free counseling session per month from a licensed Christian counselor for all our Residents. Extreme spiritual growth needs care. More frequent sessions can be scheduled as needed.
